Our History
Dittos® was founded in 1979 by designers Susie Tompkins and Doug Weston. The brand started as a small denim label in Los Angeles, with a focus on creating fashion-forward women’s jeans and pants. Dittos® quickly gained popularity for its signature high-waisted and loose-fitting styles that embodied the carefree LA spirit.
In the 1980s, Dittos® pioneered the concept of designer jeans. While other brands were mass-producing basic jeans, Dittos® brought an elevated, fashion-centric aesthetic to denim. Our jeans featured unique details like embroidered back pockets, novelty buttons, and colorful accents. Dittos® stood out for its trend-setting styles that captured the vibrancy and individuality of the era.
By the 1990s, Dittos® had expanded into a full contemporary sportswear line. We introduced relaxed separates like oversized sweatshirts, soft knits, and slouchy t-shirts to complement our denim collection. Our laidback silhouettes and West Coast casual aesthetic resonated with young women looking for effortlessly cool wardrobe staples.
In 2014, Authentic Brands Group acquired the Dittos® brand with the goal of reviving its heritage. Staying true to the original DNA, we re-launched Dittos® online and in select department stores. The comeback collection featured modern re-imaginings of our iconic high-waisted and pegged jeans, overalls, boxy tops, and logo sweatshirts in vintage-inspired washes.

Made With Superior Fabrics
We source our denim from some of the world’s finest mills in Japan, Italy, Turkey, and the US then wash it in-house for superior softness. Our knits and wovens are created using natural fibers like cotton, TENCELTM, linen and silk as well as performance fabrics when appropriate.
Careful Construction
From the first stitch to the last button, our clothes are thoughtfully constructed for optimal durability. We use reinforced stitching, bar tacks at stress points, branded hardware and tucked interior labels so garments maintain their integrity wash after wash.
Responsible Production
We partner with factories that provide fair wages and safe working conditions for their employees. Producing locally in Los Angeles allows for better oversight of ethical practices. We also incorporate eco-friendly dyes, laser finishing and recycled fabrics whenever possible.
Rigorous Fit Testing
Our in-house fit specialists continuously fine-tune our blocks and patterns to perfect the fit of every new style. We fit our jeans on multiple body types to ensure consistent sizing and an ultra-flattering silhouette.
Hand-Finishing Touches
Once constructed, our denim goes through an extensive finishing process done by hand. Sanding, whiskering, destruction and stonewashing techniques give our jeans that lived-in, perfectly broken-in look and feel.

Julie Smith – CEO
Our fearless leader Julie keeps the Dittos® spirit alive. With decades of retail experience, she upholds the brand’s values and DNA while guiding us towards the future. Julie lives for travel, art museums and sunshine.
Mark Cho – Head Designer
Mark’s laidback personality and brilliant eye for detail make him the perfect fit for Dittos®. He leads our design team in mixing vintage styles with modern flair. Baseball caps, good eats and hip hop are Mark’s jams.
Katrina Klein – Technical Design Director
With an engineering mind and passion for denim, Katrina develops our innovative fabrics and perfects the fit of every style. She geeks out over vintage cars, sci-fi novels and chess tournaments.
James Ford – Marketing Director
Keeping the brand fresh, current and engaging is James’ forte. He and his team deliver bold, inspiring campaigns that speak to confident Dittos® women. You can catch James playing guitar, hiking with his dog or searching for the best taco joint.
Sarah Chang – Retail Manager
Sarah heads up our retail division, bringing the Dittos® experience to life in stores. She obsesses over every detail from displays to music to make shopping fun and interactive. Outside work, Sarah is all about food festivals, spin class and snuggling her cat Luna.
Diego Marquez – Customer Experience Manager
Ensuring every customer interaction delights is Diego’s specialty. He leads support, sales and engagement across channels so you feel valued with Dittos®. Diego spends his weekends biking, brewing kombucha and watching documentaries.

Art Institutes
To feed creativity and self-expression, Dittos® proudly supports organizations like the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) that enable the next generation of artists, designers and innovators. We provide scholarships, host student competitions, sponsor exhibits and regularly recruit interns.
Dress for Success
We partner with Dress for Success, a nonprofit that provides professional attire, career coaching and job resources to economically disadvantaged women. Our annual clothing donations help women thrive in work and life. We also host Dress for Success shopping events in Dittos® stores.
LA Kitchen
Based in our LA hometown, LA Kitchen empowers men and women coming out of incarceration or homelessness through culinary training and job placement. We support their amazing mission through financial donations plus volunteering to serve meals.
Denim Drives
At Dittos® we know the power of a great pair of jeans. That’s why we host regular denim drives where customers can bring in their gently worn jeans in exchange for big discounts. We then donate all denim to local women’s shelters and charities.
